PRICE CONTROLS
TRANSITION PERIOD
Certain Provisions To Be Continued In Britain N.Z. Press Association—Copyright Rec. 10.30 a.m. LONDON, Aug. 23. The text has been issued of a bill which is designed to continue for five years certain wartime controls over supplies and services in the period of transition from war to peace. The purpose of the bill is stated to be:—
(1) To secure at fair prices a sufficiency of the" supplies and services essential to the community's well-being or their equitable distribution.
(2) To facilitate the readjustment of industry and cdmmerce to the eommunity"s peacetime requirements. _
(3) To assist in the relief of suffering and the restoration and distribution of essential supplies and services in- any part of the Dominions or foreign countries which are gravely distressed as a result of the war. , . , , The bill particularly provides for the control of prices and charges. It increases Parliamentary control over orders issued under the. regulations. ,
