NORTH ISLAND TEAM
SORENSON AT FIVE-EIGHTH
A further alteration has been made in the North Island team to play the South at Eden Park on Saturday. B. Couch, the yoythful Wairarapa Maori player, who was selected as second five-eighth, was injured in a club game last week and is at present in the Greytown Hospital suffering from a leg injury. His place In the North team will be taken by R. Sorenson (Auckland). Sorenson, who played five-eighth for the North two years ago. was nominated this year for the full-back position. P. Tetzlaff is now the sole North Island reserve back.
The failure of L.. S. Rae (Auckland) to gain recognition after the two original five-eighths, Delamore and Couch, nave dropped out has caused considerable comment. Rae was in last year's North Island team and was again nominated as an inside back this year. His form has been consistently good this season and. in addition, he and Barchard, now at fii;st fiveeighth, are a first-class partnership. Ihe position now is that there are half-backs only available as reserves for both the North and the South teams. Presumably the selectors' idea is that, should a North back be injured, Tetzlaff will go on as half and Paewai will move out to fiveeighths.
