OBITUARY
MR. AV. J. HYDE
One of the most prominent farmers of the Clevedon district, Mr. William John Hyde, has died at the age of 75. Mr. Hyde was born in Clevedon and spent all his life there. In his youth he took a keen interest in the volunteer movement and in sport, being a Franklin Rugby representative in 1893-94. He was a staunch supporter of the Clevedon Agricultural and Pastoral Association and was patron of the Clevedon Horticultural Society. He was a member of the old Wairoa Roai Board and of the school committee. For many years he took an active part in Anglican Church life. Upon his retirement from farming he settled in the Clevedon township. He is survived by his wife, ond son and five daughters. There are nine grandchildren.
