BRITISH ELECTION
Polling In North England And South Scotland TWO MINISTERS INVOLVED Rec. 1.30 p.m. LONDON, July 12. Polling took place to-day in 22 English and Scottish constituencies, where voting had been postponed for one week because of mass holidays. . In to-day's "little election" there were 61 candidates for 23 seats. Sixteen were held in the last Parliament by Conservatives, one by a Liberal National and six by Labour members.-

There ::has been -.some keen campaigning, accentuated by the presence ;■ of well-known political figures ofvall parties. Two Ministers of the' "Caretaker" Government are involved ;in the poll—Sir Donald Somervell, the Home Secretary, who is Conservative candidate for Crewe, and Mr. Ernest Brown, Minister of Aircraft Production, who is Liberal.
