WORK OF UNRRA
RELIEF FOR EUROPE
N.Z. WOMAN'S WEEKLY
The purpose of Unrra is to secure relief supplies and to assist each national or temporary Government which desires food, clothing, seeds, machinery and skilled personnel until that country is in a position to undertake its own reconstruction. In many parts of Europe clothing is almost unobtainable and in Italy thousands of children cannot go to school—or even leave their beds—because they have nothing to wear. In Greece anyone lucky enough to find a pair of children's shoes made of a synthetic substance must pay for them the equivalent of £77. In this week's issue of the N.Z. Woman's Weekly an interesting article entitled "Disorganisation and Unnra" tells something of the conditions in Europe and the work being done there by this organisation.
The magazine contains a number of other bright and topical articles, in addition to two complete short stories and the popular regular features.
The Free Pattern Service again offers readers three designs from which they may make their selection.
