URGENT NEED FOR FOOD
AID SOUGHT FROM FARMERS
The urgent need for a continuation of a maximum effort toward food production resulted in a decision by the northern district council of the Royal Agricultural Society, at its annual meeting yesterday, to seek further support from farmers. It was decided to ask agricultural and pastoral associations to bring the matter before their members. Mr. J. Wylie was re-elected chairman of the council and Mr. W. F. O'Donnel was re-elected secretarytreasurer. Messrs W. L. Ranstead, D. S. Ross and A. Best were re-elec-ted to the council and Mr. T. Wilkins was elected to fill the fourth vacancy. The annual conference of affiliated agricultural and pastoral associations in the Auckland Province was also held, 13 associations being represented. It was decided that the Government be asked to consider the question of agricultural education for young farmers. The resolution is to be forwarded to the annual meeting of the Royal Agricultural Society in Wellington next week. Members decided to hold both provincial meetings in Hamilton next year.
