Last Jap.-Held Port On Luzon ENEMY FORCE POCKETED Rec. 1 p.m. WASHINGTON, June 22. American forces on Luzon have captured Aparri, the last port held by the Japanese, says a com.munique from General Mac Arthur. Aparri is on the northern coast of Luzon and "is just 250 miles south of the tip of Formosa. Its capture seals off a big Japanese force still holding out in the Cagayan Valley.
The American 37th Division, securing the area surrounding Ilagon on Luzon, routed an enemy forpe four miles to the south-east and destroyed eight flame-throwing tanks, adds the communique. Thirty-five miles farther north down the Cagayan Valley our guerillas crossed the Cagayan River and captured Tugugarao against scattered resistance. Large quantities of food, ammunition and ordnance supplies were taken The 33rd Division, driving north of Bokod, secured the Daklan al^On P Mindanao our forces carried out extensive patrols, and moppmgup operations.
