VICTORY LOAN
AUCKLAND'S EFFORT
HALF-WAY MARK PASSED
With subscriptions to the 1945 Victory Loan, actual and promised, totalling £3,015,729 in the Auckland district, the half-way mark towards the official quota has been passed. Contributions represent 51 per cent of the quota of £5,836,000. Yesterday subscriptions to the fund amounted to £150,598 and promises to £140,430, making a total of £291,028. The Auckland metropolitan area has subscribed 49 per cent of its target, with a total subscription of £2,691,182.
Waimauku, which not only was the first centre in the Auckland district to achieve its quota in the war loan campaign last year, but also doubled that figure before the campaign ended, is again the first to exceed its quota. The centre has subscribed £5230, which is £614 more than the figure allocated to it.
Subscriptions in other districts are as follows, the quota percentages being shown in parentheses:— Howick, £7552 (61 per cent); Henderson, £10,248 (56); Clevedon, £3754 (55); Whitford, £1081 (51); Tuakau, £7014 (49); . Albany, £1194 (47); Pokeno, £2697 (47); Patumahoe, £3665 (46); Papakura, £15,005 (45); Kaukapakapa, £2519 (43); Waiuku, £21,325 (42); Matakana, £1607 (42); Bombay, £1436 (41); ICumeu, £2765 (41); Papatoetoe, £13,334, (41); Wellsford, £8745 (41); Pukekohe, £28,536 (40); Manurewa, £7214 (40); Helensville, £5838 (39); Mercer, £875 (38); Onewhero, £1658 (38); Otahuhu, £21,605 (38); Kaipara Flats, £1673 (37); Warkworth, £5091 (35); Silverdale, £1155 (32); Leigh, £295 (30).
