PRISONERS TO WORK
German Army Corps Intact In Bremerhaven STRICT BRITISH CONTROL Rec. 12.30 p.m. LONDON, May 14. The German Army Corps, known as the Ems Corps, consisting of 150,000 men, who surrendered at Bremerhaven, having maintained their organisation and discipline to the last, is being put to work instead of being kept in idleness in prisoner of war cages, says the Daily Telegraph correspondent at Bremerhaven. The German Corps commander, Lieutenant-General Raspe, and his staff will be responsible under British military orders for organising the repair of railways, roads and bridges, also for farm work. , . The troops will work under their own officers and under strict military discipline. They will have German food, huge stocks of which haye been discovered in warehouses in Bremerhaven. Raspe has been tola that if any man deserts or tries to sneak home his unit will be instantly clapped in prisoner of war cagesS.S. and Gestapo units will not oe used.
