Mr. A. J. Costelloe has been appointed Food and Rationing Controller, in succession to Mr. J. E. Thomas, who retired last December. Mr. Costelloe has been secretary tc the controller's office since 1943, and acting-controller since Mr. Thomas' retirement. Mr. W. H. Graham, chief boarding inspector and immigration officer at Auckland, has retired after 44 years' service with the Customs Depart ment. An informal farewell function was held in the Department's Queen's Wharf office yesterday afternoon, when presentations were made to Mr. Graham on. behalf of the Customs staff and wharf police.
