Nations Meet To Plan World Peace
OM BASIS OF JUSTICE President Truman Addresses San Francisco Conference N.Z.P.A.—Copyright—Rec. 1 p.m. : WASHINGTON, April 25. Speaking by radio to the delegates at the United Nations Conference at San Francisco, President Truman said: "The world has experienced the revival of the old faith in an mora force of justice. At no time in history has there been a more important conference, nor a more necessary meeting than this one you are opening to-day. "On behalf of_the American people I extend to you a most hearty welcome. President Roosevelt appointed an able delegation to represent the United States, and I have complete confidence in its chairman, Mr. Stettinius, and his distinguished colleagues. They have my confidence. They have my support. In the name of a great humanitarian, one who is surely with us to-day ill spirit, I earnestly appeal to each and every one of you to rise above personal interests and adhere to those lofty principles which will benefit all mankind. "President Roosevelt gave his life while trying to perpetuate these high ideals. This conference owes its existence in large part to the vision, foresight and determination of Franklin Roosevelt. Each of you can remember other courageous champions who have also made the supreme sacrifice serving under your flag. They gave their lives so that others might live in security. They died to ensure justice. We must work and live to guarantee justice for all."
