FIJIAN CENSUS

O.C. SUVA, April 2. A return of the population of the colony of Fiji at December 31, 1944, gives a total of 246,485, as compared with 198, 3y9 in 1936. The various races are as follows, with the 1936 figures in parenthesis: Europeans, 5254 (4025); persons of mixed European and native descent, 5781 (4574); Fijians, 113,179 (97,651); Indians. 113,147 (85.002): Rotumans, 3363 (2816); Chinese, 2406 (1751); Polynesians, Micronesians and Melanesians, 1914 (1475); others, 1441 (1082). .
