FATAL CLOT OF BLOOD

P.A. WAIPUKURAU, this day. J After an injury to his right leg, a clot of blood, whi£h broke off and drifted to the pulmonary artery near the heart, blocking the bloodstream, caused the death of a 14-y ea r-old schoolboy, Brian Paul Holdsworth, of Waipawa, at Waipukurau Hospital yesterday. Late in February Holdsworth cut his leg. The cut healed, but on March 6 a hit near the cut with a cricket ball inflamed the area and he was admitted to the hospital. His condition improved until last Thursday, when he took a sudden change for the worse and died yesterday. At the inquest this morning, Mr. F. J. Adeane, coroner, found that death was due to pulmonary embolus complication following the injury to a leg a month before.
