NEW TYPE SPEEDS TRANSPORT

Rec. 2.30. NEW YORK, April 6. United States engineers in Detroit have announced that a new type of portable aluminium bridge, weighing only 54 tons and capable of spanning a river up to 436 feet wide is now in production for the battlefronts of the world. The bridge, which is known as "M 4, was developed by an army engineer's corps to expedite the transportation of military traffic after an assault boat crossing. It can be dismantled k and transported to new , crossings when a permanent, bridge is constructed.
