SEWERAGE SYSTEM
£55,750 WANGANUI SCHEME
O.C. WANGANUI, this day. Renewals and extensions required immediately to the sewerage system, and desirable, but not necessarily essential jobs for later consideration, will probably involve Wanganui City Council in expenditure of approximately £55,750, according to a comprehensive report on the condition of the sewers tabled at the monthly meeting of the council by the city engineer, Mr. L. F. Row. Outfall and sewer extension renewals classed as necessary works, Mr. Row said, would probably cost about £27,430, and further such jobs which the council should budget for soon or left for future years, would cost possibly a further £28,310. Less than half the renewals and extensions needed were directly due to faults in the present system, and the remainder were the result of street improvements and building extensions which had made the existing sewers inadequate.
