OBITUARY

MB. J. W. BROWN

A prominent Auckland business man, Mr. James Walter Brown, has died at the age of 71. He came to New Zealand with his parents in 1882, and had lived in Auckland ever since. He was an original partner of the firm of Smith and Brown, furnishers, and when the firm was formed into a limited company he was elected chairman of directors, a position which he held up to the time of his death. In his younger days Mr. Brown was a member of the old City Rugby Football Club, a committee member of the Northern Boxing Ascbciation, and a keen yachtsman. Ie is survived by his wife.
