HEAVIER TOMATO SUPPLIES Still fair supplies of peaches are coming forward to the city markets, and many lines are showing deterioration. There are increased supplies of tomatoes, quantities coming forward from the Wellington province. Very large supplies of outdoor grapes were offering to-day. nnd prices eased considerably. Carrots and beetroot were in over supply with rates very low. Prices ot pumpkins and lettuce were also easier. Quotations:— Vegetables.—Beet, 1/ to 2/6 dozen. Celery, cooking, 6d to 1/ bundle; dessert, 1/6 to 3/6. Carrots, 2/ to 3/ dozen. Cauliflowers, 5/ to 18/ sack. Cabbages, 5/ to 8/ sack. Cucumbers. 2/ to 5/ dozen. Stringless beans, 4/ to 14/ bag. Green peas, 6/ to 23/ bag. Kumaras. No. 1, 26/3 cwt.; No. 2, 2/ to 4/ bag. Leeks. 1/ to 1/6 bundle. Lettuce. 4/ to 15/ case. Marrows, 2/ to 3/ sack. Melons, water, 6d to 1/6 cach. The prices paid remain unchanged. Selling rates were as follow:—Cockerels, heavy breeds, prime, 7/ to 9/ each; not prime, 3/ to 5/ each; light breeds, prime, 4/ to 6/ each; not prime, 2/6 to 3/ each. Fat hens, heavy breeds, 5/6 to 6/6 each; light breeds, 3/6 each. Pullets, heavy breeds, best, 7/6 to 10/ each; smaller, 4/ to 5/; light breeds, best, 6/ to 10/; smaller, 2/ up each.
