UNUSUAL SCORING IN MIDDLE EAST RUGBY
Unusual feature of the drawn Rugby match between a New Zealand Maadi -Camp team "and a Royal Artillery Base Depot fifteen, played recently at Alamein Club, Cairo, was the fact that the 18 points notched by each side were scored in exactly the same manner—a converted try, a field goal and three penalties. The interval score was also even, 11 all. The Artillery teani had suffered only one reverse during the season and it included Dilorenzo, the Welsh international hooker, who for three years had proved to be the outstanding rake in Middle East Army football. Outstanding for New Zealand was C. C. Perkins, the former Waikato representative., who scored a try and later potted a field goal, which, unfortunately for the Kiwis, was disallowed, as the whistle had sounded for a penalty while the ball was still in flight. G. Cook, who played for South Canterbury a few years back, was responsible for eleven of New Zealand's points, kicking three penalties and converting the try. H. Johns, the well-known Taranaki full-back, played a splendid game and he landed a beautiful field goal from 40 yards out. The New Zealand team was: Backs, H. Johns (Taranaki), F. H. Stewart (Invercargill), C. C. Perkins (Hamilton) F. Furnell (Auckland), T. R. Plunkett (Ashburton), E. Tindill (Wellington); forwards, C. Cook (Rangiora), H. Tattersall (Christchurch), S. F. Jackson (Hawke's Bay), C. Herbert (Dannevirke), W. Bissetl (Dannevirke); CC; Petersen (Auckland),' A;: Baird (Southland),- W. G. Sheriff (Invercargill); D. E. Smith (Dannevirke).
