MIDNIGHT FIRE

NEW NORTH ROAD DAMAGE

Fire severely damaged four rooms and their contents in a two-storeyed house at 65, New North Road, about 12 o'clock last night. The building is owned by Mr. G. A. Coles, of Exmouth Street, Eden Terrace, and is occupied by Mr. C. Taylor, and Mr. T. "Walters. Starting from an unknown cause in the bathroom on the ground floor, the fire spread upward to the second floor and was blazing fiercely when machines from the Mount Eden and Central stations arrived. Firemen were able to confine the fire to four rooms, and the outbreak was soon under control.
