New Device
BREATHING PIPE IN USE Rec. 1.30' p.m. LONDON, Feb. 15. The German news agency claims that U-boats in recent weeks have been operating off the coast of England off Halifax, and also off Gioraltar the St. Lawrence - Estuary, Reykjavik and Murmansk. The new activity is attributed to the use of the schnorkel (breathing pipe), which enables a U-boat to remain submerged for long periods. "This however, does not mean that the U-boats will stage a sudden comeback," adds the German agency.
