FOR CRIME IN ENGLAND I Rec. 5 p.m. LONDON, Jan. 12. An American court-martial has sentenced to death by hanging Private George Smith, of Pittsburg, J who confessed to the shooting of Sir Eric Teichman with an Army carbine while hunting in the grounds of Teichman's estate on December 3. The defence pleaded insanity, alleging that Smith was a homicidal degenerate. Sir Eric Teichflian, formerly Counsellor to the British Embassy in Chungking and a noted traveller, was found shot dead on December 3 on his estate in Norfolk. He was one of the Foreign Office's foremost experts on China. BRITISH AIR CASUALTIES Rec. 4.30 p.m. ' RUGBY, Jan. 12. Official figures of civilian casualties due to enemy air action in the United Kingdom during Deceniber show: Killed or missing believed killed, 367; injured and detained in hospital, 1847. The killed or believed killed, inchjde 111 men, 192 women and 64 children.
