Most of the seasonal public demand, for notes this year was In the week immedlateTr before Christmas, and the Commonwealth Bans Issuea a further £4,250,000 of notes. This made an increase of £6,000,000 In a fortnight, and brought the total Issue to a new peak of more than £200,000,000. The return of notes after the holidays is normally a slower process, extending over six or eight weeks.
