SKY SPECTACLE

A BRILLIANT METEOR

CONCUSSION AFTER FLASH

P.A. WELLINGTON, this day. An extraordinarily fine meteor blazed across (he sky shortly before nine o'clock on Saturday night, shedding sparks and leaving a luminous trail which lasted a considerable time. Its course appeared to terminate over the Wairarapa, and three or four minutes later an explosion was heard, the concussion being sufficient to shake houses as if they were bumped. The time interval suggested the explosion occurred over the southern portion of the Wairarapa.
