MINERS' HALL DESTROYED

O.C. WHANGAREI, this day. The Mangapehi Hall was destroyed by fire early yesterday morning. The origin is unknown, the fire having a strong hold when discovered. Fire-fighting operations were hampered by lack of water pressure. The heaviest loser is Mr. J. S. Henderson, who lost the whole of his now irreplacable motion picture plant, valued at about £800. He had no insurance cover. The local home guard equipment and property belonging to the Anglican Church was also destroyed. The insurance on the hall amounts to £1000.
