Disorders And Stampedes In Mexico City REMINISCENT OP VALENTINO Rec. 2.30 p.m. NEW YORK, Dec. 28. Disorders and stampedes marked the burial of the film star Lupc Velez, in Mexico City to-day. The scenes were reminiscent of the funeral of Rudolph Valentino. A sister of the dead actress, Reyne Valez, fainted and fell in the crowd. A number of people trod on her before she was rescued. . The police were unable to control; the milling thousands, who, while madly racing for vantage points, knocked over monuments. Hundreds scrambled on top of a crypt near the grave to view the ceremony. Others climbed trees. . The funeral was the largest Mexico has seen since that of President Obregon, who was assassinated -in 1928. All last night the body of "the actress lay in state in the ; mortuary while 50,000 people filed past. The street outside the mortuary was blocked for hours by the crowds.
" The film actress, Lupe Velez. was found dead in her home in Beverley Hills. The coroner said she had apparently taken An overdose of sleeping powc er. It .was later revealed that she had committed suicide after disappointment in a lovs affair.
