IN ATHENS STREETS
PEOPLE WAITING FOR FOOD Rec. 1 p.m. RUGBY. Dec. 25. The city of Athens is passing through the Christmas period in the turmoil of war but curiously enough the effect is that streets which, are usually almost deserted on this day of indoor festivity are filled with people, cables a correspondent from Athens. There are long queues before shops waiting for the distribution of food while those whose homes have been blown up or destroyed by fire are going to spend the day with relatives or friends. E.L.A.S. forces are arresting all who are suspected of British symP£***y and among those taken as hoi ages are M. Varacassilis, a wellkm xn industrialist, and a member of iiis family, and a journalist named Athanatos.
