EJ,LERSLIE ACTIVITIES Training at Ellerslie this morning was restricted, the majority of horses being allotted useful pacing on the tan and sand track. Owing to recent rain the ground was cutting out slightly; nevertheless, several smart trials were registered.

The fastest sprint over three, furlongs was accomplished by Verdant. The son of Te Hero recorded 37 1 -5s and finished full of running. Verdant has got through a lot of useful pace work during the last few weeks, and lias hardened in condition a good deal.

The best trial over six furlongs was credited to Brief, which finished clear of Embassy at the end of their workout in 1.16 2-5. They ran the first three furlongs in 36 4-Ss. and Brief, which has improved noticeably of late, came home well.
