CHILDREN'S CARNIVAL
YOUTH CLUB'S SUMMER PLANS A king and queen carnival was held at the St. Columba Youth Centre at Grey Lynn last night to mark the culmination of the winter activities. The queen Was Miss Aureole Verrall, and the king was Master Ernest Stokes, and they were elected by boys and girls of the centre by a voting system of penny donations in aid of the centre's funds. The Rev. R. Godfrey, chairman of the centre, welcomed the guests, who packed the hall. Captain V. C. Bunce, of the Church Army, organising secretary of, the centre, was responsible for the even- | ing's entertainment, and Miss T. Clough was in charge of the coronation. Trophies were presented for athletics, boxing, gym- ' nasium and handicrafts, and displays of 1 work were given by the various groups. Outdoor activities, such as a swimming campaign and sports, are being arranged for the summer, and a boys' camp will J be held at Coromandel in January for | ( 150 boys. " M
