HAWERA ASPIRANTS
(Special) HAWERA, this day. Hawera horses to compete at the Rangitikei meeting to-morrow include Clarice, Alderman, Mr. Cute, Sublime Fox, Adrigoole, Manpower and Gay Anne. Although accepted for, Battledress is an unlikely starter. Alderman is in the two seven furlongs hack races, and no announcement lias been made as to (which one he is to start in. Alderman is in tip-top order, and yesterday galloped five furlongs on the outside of the course proper in 1.5 (an excellent effort under the conditions). He will be ridden by E. Lewis, and is sure to attract attention. The Hawera sprinter Clarice is also in great order, and promises to be hard to beat. R. J. Flower will, in all probability, ride Clarice. . Adrigoole has accepted m two races, but his mission will probably be the Rangitikei Plate for gentlemen riders. Mr. K. Lupton isimentioned as likely to ride him Adrigoole has been working particularly well since he finished third to Cracroft and Solver in the Moumahaki Cup at Waverley last month. Leo George has two promising maidens in Sublime Fox and Mr. Cute. J. Mudford will ride Sublime Fox. . Drambuie, the half-sister to Clarice, is making pleasing progress, and will attract attention when next out. Black Plato is going well again.after hi* easv time, and is to make his reappearance at Woodville on Saturday week.
