OBITUARY
MB. ALEXANDER A. ROSS Long 1 association with farming interests marked the life of Mr. Alexander A. Ross, of Mission Bay, whose death occurred at the age of 77. Born in Scotland, Mr. Ross came to New Zealand in 1881. He took up farming in the Waikato, and became prominent in local body life, serving for 10 years as chairman of the Whangamarino Road Board and for six years on the Waikato County Council. He was
a member of the Auckland executive of the New Zealand Farmers Union and provincial president for some years, until his retirement in 1933, when he Was elected a Dominion life member. Mr. Ross was on the directorate of several companies. He was a member of the Auckland Agricultural and Pastoral Association, and was an ex-president of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce. Among other activities, Mr. Ross served as vicepresident of the Auckland branch of the Economic Society of Australia and New Zealand, as chairman of the executive of the New Zealand Territorial Association (Northern Command), and of the Youths Farm Settlement Board. Mr. Ross is survived by his wife and one son.
