TRIBUTE TO R.S.A.
"A GREAT INSTITUTION" REHABILITATION DEBATE (By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, this day. "I do hope that nothing will be said that will jeopardise our R.S.A. and those who for the time being are placed in authority in this house," stated Mr. Lowry (Govt., Otaki) in the House of Representatives yesterday when speaking in the debate on the Rehabilitation Amendment Bill. , , Mr. Lowry said that as a member of the R.S.A. he cculd say it was a great institution that had demonstrated what could be accomplished, but it would be wrong to suggest that the R.S.A. should govern the country. That was the Government s job. The Government, however, was prepared to give co " sid I | r^ t l on „J'9 suggestions made by the R.S.A., and in many instances in the past it had accepted proposals brought forward by the association. _ , , ~ Mr. Anderton (Govt., Eden) said that the statements made purporting to be statements and criticism by the RS A. were made by individuals who might be executiye officers ot that organisation. While he agreed that there was a relationship and kindly feeling between the returned men fro:.* the last war and the present war, it did not follow that every little criticism offered by the R.S.A. was criticism which worthy of acting upon. Individuals in thp RS A were just as liable to be biased as members of the Opposition and Government, according to their particular outlook.
