BUILDING SOCIETIES
The building society movement in New Zealand was the subject of an address by Mr. R. D. Matthews at last night's meeting of the Auckland chapter of the N.Z. Institute of Secretaries. Mr. Matthews described the growth of the movement from its inception 170 years ago, stating that thrift and home ownership were the precepts of the terminating societies of to-day, with the making of profits a secondary matter. Mr. A. D. Thomson, chairman of the chapter, presided. *'
