AUST. BANKING POLICY

An early pronouncement by the Commonwealth Government of its banking policy, in the interests of financial stability, was urged by the general council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia at its half-yearly meeting. A resolution passed by the council stated that "post-war rehabilitation and expansion of industry are dependent upon the existence of a sound financial structure possessing the confidence of the whole community . . . unauthorised statements of the Government's intention are creating an uneasiness which is harmful to financial stability."
