FURIOUS BELGIANS

LONDON. Gestapo spies were brought into the public square of a liberated Belgian town and forced by an infuriated crowd to lick off swastika signs on the pavements and roads. This story is told by Trooper Jim Brewis, of Newcastle, in a letter from Belgium. He adds: "These spies got 500 francs for every young man they brought into headquarters. They were lucky to get off with a mouthful of whitewash."
