THEFT ALLEGED
SOLICITOR'S CLERK SUM OF £1630 INVOLVED Thirteen charges of theft involving a total of £1630 were preferred against William Henry Mervyn Adams (Mr. Ewen), aged 48, a clerk employed by rtussell, McVeagh and Co , when he appeared before Messrs. M J. Pearce and E. W. Donald, J.P.'s, this morning. Eleven charges related to estates administered by the firm and from which it was alleged the accused had stolen sums varying from £15 to £329. Two charges were in respect of a total of £94 alleged to have been stolen by the accused from the firm. Detective-Sergeant P. J. Kearney conducted the case for the prosecution. „ , ... Seventeen witnesses called this morning gave evidence regarding deceased estates administered by Russell, McVeagh and Co. They stated that the accused had no authority to use for his own purposes money paid into such estates. (Proceeding.) I
