STILL NO TRACE
Plane Which Carried Sir Trafford Leigh-Mallory BAFFLING MYSTERY Rec. 1.30 p.m. LONDON, Nov. IS. Searching planes have so far found no trace of the plane which was carrying Air Chief Marshal Sir Trafford Leigh-Mallory, the Air Com-manded-in-Chief South-East Asia Command which was reported missing on Saturday after having left Britain on Tuesday last. The pilot of a long-range enemy fighter may ■be the only man who knows the fate of Sir Trafford LeighMallory and the latter's wife, says the Evening News. The most likely theory is that Sir Trafford's plane was pounced on by a German fighter* No weather should have proved too bad for the plane, which was of the latest type. Baffling features of the mystery are that no wreckage has been found along the plane's plotted route and that the plane kept radio silence from the time its fighter escort left. Security prohibts disclosure of the names of any of Sir Trafford's staff , accompanying him, but it is known that among them were a personal secretary, a valet 'and a flight-ser-geant who have been with him on all trips.
