DEFEAT OF MANUKAU
i CITY AXD SUBURBAN CRICKET ! With frequent showers and little more i than two hours' actual play there was J little opportunity for outstanding individual performances when the second series of Suburban games was concluded at the Domain on Saturday. A complete reversal of form on the part of Railway and Brixton, the latter decisively defeating last year's champion, Manukau, gave R.V. a five-point lead over three teams. When rain stopped play at 4.30 p.m. the score board read:' R.V., four wickets for 164, beat Green Lane 153. Brixton, six wickets for 188. beat Manukau 181. Railway 81, and nine wickets for 118, Dilworth 0.8. 60. Points to date are: R.V. 10, Dilworth 0.8. 5, Brixton 5, Manukau 5, Railway 4, Green Lane 2. The few individual successes during the day were all recorded by batsmen. E. Gifford, formerly of Tui, playing his I first game for Brixton, scored 54, the highest total of the series. His third wicket stand of 91 with Bunting laid the foundation for Brixton's comfortable 4 win over Manukau. Likewise, in a third wicket stand with Cloke, Wood dismissed any possibility of an R..V. collapse. Railway, having gained first innings points the previous week, got in some valuable batting practice, and for the first time this season topped "iree figures Bracewell, who has done well the ball, contributed a workmanlike 41 before he was run out.
