AID TO RUSSIA
MRS. CHURCHILL'S THANKS In an airgraph received by Mr. H. Atmore, president of the New Zealand Society for Closer Relations with Russia, Mrs. Churchill, wife of the British Prime Minister, expresses pleasure at the society's contributions to her Aid to Russia Fund. "The unstinting generosity of the people of this country and subscribers abroad has enabled my fund to provide vast quantities of surgical equipment and medical supplies of all kinds to our Russian Allies," she says.
She adds that the Red Cross has shipped no less than 36 consignments, weighing 13,000 tons, to Russia. "I wish I could tell you how warmly I personally appreciate the sympathy and interest which your committee has already extended to the work of the fund," she concludes. "Will you please thank your subscribers for this and for the previous gifts they have sent me, bringing the sum total of their contributions to £778. Yours sincerely, Clementine S. Churchill."
