AUSTRALIAN APPOINTMENT

FOR AUCKLAND CLERGYMAN

An invitation to the Church of Christ, Brighton, Melbourne, one of the largest churches of the denomination in Victoria, has been accepted by the Rev. W. S. Lowe, who has been minister of the Church of Christ, Ponsonby, for the past three and a half years.- Mr. Lowe, who was born in Dunedin in 1910, is a graduate Of Glen Leith Theological College, Dunedin, and the University of New Zealand. He took his B.Com. and B.A. at Canterbury University College and his M.A. this year in Auckland. At Canterbury he won the Ensom Prize, awarded for a thesis embodying a contribution to international peace. Mr. Lowe has been prominent as a youth leader since he came to Auckland, and has been particularly active in inter-church work as a committee member and speaker m connection with the Christian Order Movement. For some time he has been secretary of the Auckland Inter-Church Council on Public Affairs. His first appointment was as minister of the Greymouth Church of Christ. From there he went to Australia, and spent three and a half years there and in Tasmania. He was elected president of the Tasmanian Churches of Christ Conference In 1934 he married Miss Grace Usmar. Mr. Lowe, who has been a frequent contributor to the columns of the Star, expects to leave for Australia early in February.
