ELECTRICITY SUPPLY

REQUEST BY CONTROLLER

" KEEP DOWN TO MINIMUM"

A request from the Electricity Controller to "keep consumption down to the minimum during the summer" was received by the Waitemata Electric Power Board this afternoon. The letter stated that the position next year was likely to be less favourable than it had been during the past winter, and all supply authorities were urged to reduce their consumption to the set limits. Many were relaxing their efforts to control their load, it was stated. The chairman, Mr. . Alec Bishop, said that it was impossible to reduce the consumption of electricity any further. The board had had over 300 new consumers in the past six months. It was unreasonable to ask the board to redute the consumption of electricitv on the one hand, while requesting that new houses be connected with power on the other.
