REDUCED TO RUBBLE
Fate Of Brunswick In Allied Attacks
RAIDS ON REICH CONTINUE
Rec. 11.30 a.m. LONDON, Oct. 23. "Allied terror bombers have reduced Brunswick to rubble," stated the German news agency, "Within one hour Brunswick was destroyed, burned and wiped out except for chimney stacks." >•
An Air Ministry communique states that Bomber Command aircraft last night, without loss, attacked objectives at Hamburg and in Western Germany.
R A.F. Lancasters, escorted by fighters, made a heavy attack on Neuss, satellite town of Dusseldorf and railway centre and inland port on the west bank of the Rhine. Flak was comparatively light from the target itself, but heavy as the bombers approached and left it.
Neuss is the junction of many lines which radiate towards various sectors of the Siegfried Line and which also run from north to south behind the front.
