Q ■ DOCTOR INJURED COMMENT BY MAGISTRATE (P.A.) DUNEDIN 7 , this day. "It was a despicable, cowardly ancl brutal assault, absolutely unprovoked," stated Mr. H. W. Bundle, S.M., in the Police Court to-day, to George Clements, aged 32, -who was charged with having assaulted Dr. Murray Alexander Falconer, a medical practitioner attached to the Dunedin Hospital. The accused was remanded in custody until Monday Dr. Falconer being unable to appear on account of serious injury to his face.

The police stated that the accused came up to the doctor at the Stuart Street tram terminus pretending an interest in some parcels which the complainant was carrying. He displayed. a nasty temper, and when complainant moved away he took off his tunic and commenced a serious assault. The accused had passed some remark about "being away years fighting for the likes of you," whereas, as a matter of fact, Dr. Falconer had a creditable war record The accused was married and on fur. lough after service in the Pacific, and had received notice to return to Burnham next Wednesday. In answer to the magistrate, the accused said the complainant called, him a poor specimen. The magistrate: Acting as you did, what else were you?
