C.B.E. FOR DUTCH OFFICER

(P.A.) WELLINGTON, Thursday. The Governor-General, Sir Cyril ■ Newall, announced that the King has approved the appointment of Colonel Jacobus Cornelius Gerards, of the Royal Netherlands Army. (Medical Service), to be an honorary Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (C.8.E.), Military Division. The honour is conferred in recognition of valuable services rendered in connection with the repatriation of sick and wounded personnel of the New Zealand and Australian Military Forces from the Middle East. Colonel Gerards has been officer commanding troops on the Oranji since she became a hospital ship.
