ALL GOING. WELL
REASONS FOB PRESENT LULL
Rec. 12.30 p.m
RUGBY, Sept. 29.
"Everything is going well despite the temporary lull," says a correspondent. "This is the impression I have gained from talks with generals from Eisenhower downwards," he continues. "There are three main reasons for the lull, firstly, the weather, secondly, the hilly and wooded nature of the country over which we are moving in the advance against the Siegfried Line, and, thirdly, the German ability to improvise strong defences even after they have been driven out of the Sieg-j fried formations. i
"Let us have a few weeks of good weather, and the war may move fast enough to satisfy the most optimistic strategists at home," he states. Another correspondent writes: "The general feeling here is that the lull wen't last much longer, that our pent-up strength will soon explode and burst thro-.-'i t't? Siegfried Line."
