BOMBERS FROM ITALY
New Blow Struck Against Germany's Oil
Rec. 1 p.m. LONDON, Sept. 13. Italy-based heavy bombers, with fighter support, to-day struck a new blow against Germany's oil supplies, states Reuters Rome correspondent. They attacked refineries at Odertal, 27 miles south-west of Breslau, in German Silesia, and Oswiecim, near Cracow, in South Poland. . Both refineries have a capacity of 172,000 tons annually. Generally good bombing was reported. A medium force of escorted heavy bombers yesterday attacked an aerodrome near Augsburg, a jet-propel-led aircraft factory at Ulm and air-, craft engine works at Munich, reports a Mediterranean air communique. Tactical planes, including medium, light and fighterbombers attacked railroad communications in north-western Italy arid the Po Valley, in addition to enemy strongpoints, guns, troop concentrations and other close support targets on the Italian battlefront. Coastal aircraft struck at shipping in the Adriatic and the Gulf of Genoa. Medium and heftvy bombers last night attacked the railway yards at Bologna. Eighteen planes are missing. The Mediterranean Air Force flew approximately 2000 sorties.
