Battleships and cruisers shelled the Palau Islands, in the Carolines,, on Monday, reports a Pacific Fleet communique. Aircraft dropped 120 tons of bombs on buildings, gun positions and coastal defences on Babelthaup, Peleliu and Angaur Islands.
