OX VALUES ARE HIGHER
There was an average yarding at the Westfield fat stock market to-day. The demand for both classes was steady, with values for ox being slightly higher than usual. Competition was keen. AUCTIONEERS' REPORTS Beef was penned in average numbers. There was a steady demand, with values for all classes on a par with last week's sale. Extra choice ox sold to 41/ per 1001b; choice and prime, 33/ to 40/; ordinary ox, 35/ to 37/; extra prime young cow and heifer beef, 36/; choice and prime, 33/ to 35/; ordinary, 27/ to 32/. Extra heavy prime steers ranged in price from £17 to £19; heavy, £15 17/6 to £16; medium, £14 to £15 15/; light, £12 to £13 17/6; sman and unfinished, £10 to £11 17/6; extra heavy prime young cows and heifers, £12 to £13; heavy, £10 to £11 15/; medium, £9 to £9 17/6; light, £7 10/ to £8 15/; others, £4 to £7 7/6.
