THE HARBOUR BRIDGE

ATTITUDE OF LAND VALUES LEAGUE The Auckland branch of the League for the Taxation of Land Values has authorised the following statement for publication in reply to statements of the Harbour Bridge Association: The League is not opposed to the building of the Harbour Bridge, but we are opposed to the whole of the cost being paid by tolls. As the bridge will enhance land values, we suggest a large portion of the interest charges be met by a tax on land values. We would point out fhat the bridge, or any other public utility does not increase the value of houses or other improvements. Indeed, the cost of building may be reduced with the bridge. Hence our belief in rating on unimproved values. E. STEVENSON, Advt. President of League.
