ANTI-HITLER PLOT
CONSPIRATORS CONDEMNED Rec. 1 p.m. LONDON, Sept. 11. The German news agency announced that the People's Court has dealt with the German civilians involved in the attempt against Hitler on July 20. The accused, who were all sentenced to death by hanging, were:— Karl Goerdeler, former Mayor of Leipzig; Count Helldorf, former chief of Berlin police; Wilhelm Leuschner, former Hessian Minister of the Interior; Josef Wuermer, lawyer; Ulrich von Hasselt, former Ambassador to Rome; Paul le Jeunejung, diplomat; and Trott Zusolz, of the German Foreign Office. The news agency stated that Goerdeler was intended for the post of Chancellor of the Reich, had the plot succeeded, and Leuschner ViceChancellor. Von Hasselt was to have been Foreign Minister, Wuermer Minister of Justice, and Le Jeunejung Minister of National Economy.
