SAFE FOUND
STOLEN ON TUESDAY
THIEVES OVERLOOK MONEY
The safe which was stolen from the office of the women's probation officer, Major V. Wood, in premises occupied by the Salvation Army in Grey's Avenue on Tuesday night, has been found in some scrub at the bottom of Shore Road, Remuera. There was £59 in cash in the safe when it was stolen. The thieves opened the safe by sawing through the hinges. They stole most of the money and a number of books, including a cash and a receipt book, but overlooked the sum of £26 which was contained in an envelope amongst some papers.
